Can I Join?

Membership with the Whitsunday Regional Libraries is free if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • You are a rate payer to the Whitsunday Regional Council (please bring in a rates notice).
  • You can provide proof of current lease agreements for a period of 6 months in the Whitsunday area (rental agreement with date).Â
  • You are on the State and/or Federal electoral roll at a Whitsunday address (current electoral roll card).
  • You can provide a current driver's licence with your local residential address.
  • You are under 18 years of age and your parent/guardian falls into one of the above categories.

How Do I Join?

You can join the library by providing identification of one of the above, and completing a membership application.

As a Parent / Guardian / Borrower you are responsible for:

  • All items loaned on the card including those borrowed by other users of the card
  • All items loaned by any junior or young adult member that you have given permission to join
  • Paying charges set by Council on lost & damaged items
  • Updating a change of address and advising loss of card immediately.

Non-Resident Minimize

Temporary residents (persons not falling into the above categories) may join the Library upon payment of a refundable deposit and proof of identity.

Borrowing Quotas Minimize

  • 2 Music CDs
  • 2 Videos/DVDs
  • 1 CD-ROM per family
  • 2 Talking Books.
  • 2 Videos/DVDs per card
  • 2 Books on a Specific Subject if in heavy demand.

Loan Periods

All items have a 3 week loan period, except reference material. Selected reference material may be borrowed overnight.

Items may be renewed over the phone, provided the item is not reserved by another user.
