Resident

Can I Join?

Membership with the Whitsunday Regional Libraries is free if you meet one of the following criteria:

You are a rate payer to the Whitsunday Regional Council (please bring in a rates notice).
You can provide proof of current lease agreements for a period of 6 months in the Whitsunday area (rental agreement with date).�
You are on the State and/or Federal electoral roll at a Whitsunday address (current electoral roll card).
You can provide a current driver's licence with your local residential address.
You are under 18 years of age and your parent/guardian falls into one of the above categories.

How Do I Join?

You can join the library by providing identification of one of the above, and completing a membership application.

As a Parent / Guardian / Borrower you are responsible for:

All items loaned on the card including those borrowed by other users of the card
All items loaned by any junior or young adult member that you have given permission to join
Paying charges set by Council on lost & damaged items
Updating a change of address and advising loss of card immediately.

Non-Resident

Temporary residents (persons not falling into the above categories) may join the Library upon payment of a refundable deposit and proof of identity.

Borrowing Quotas

There is a limit of 20 items per card may be borrowed at any one time. The following restrictions apply:

Bowen and Collinsville Cannonvale and Proserpine

2 Magazines

2 Music CDs

2 Videos/DVDs

1 CD-ROM per family

2 Talking Books.

2 Videos/DVDs per card

2 Books on a Specific Subject if in heavy demand.

Loan Periods

All items have a 3 week loan period, except reference material. Selected reference material may be borrowed overnight.

Renewals

Items may be renewed over the phone, provided the item is not reserved by another user.

Reservations

A maximum of 3 reservations per user applies, including Inter-Library Loans.

There is a limit of 20 items per card may be borrowed at any one time. The following restrictions apply:

Replacement cost $11.00 (Administration fee)
Sand in book - $3.30

Replacement library card:

$2.50

Photocopier:

$0.20 per Black & white A4 copy

$0.30 per Black & white A3 copy

$1.00 per Colour A4 copy

$2.00 per Colour A3 copy

Bowen Photocopier

Printer (Internet):

$1.50 per Black & white copy
$2.50 per colour copy (Library Members only)
$3.50 per colour copy (Non-members)
