Airlie Beach Lagoon Minimize

The Airlie Beach Lagoon was officially opened by the Premier of Queensland on 8 January 2001.

Since its opening the Lagoon has become the focal point for friends and family to meet and enjoy a relaxing, sunny Queensland day in a protected, safe environment.

 Airlie Beach Lagoon

The Airlie Beach Lagoon is 4,300sqm and 4.5 million litres of fresh, self chlorinated water, located parallel to the Main Street, on the foreshore of Airlie Beach. It is built on a raised breakwater, giving an excellent view out to the Coral Sea and Whitsunday Islands.

Amenities

  • 4 shaded picnic sites with tables and chairs.
  • 6 barbeque sites with free use of electricity.
  • 10 toilets, showers and an infant change room.
  • Handicapped toilet and other facilities.
  • Paddling pool with shaded areas and playground equipment.
  • Close proximity to a wide range of retail facilities including tour booking outlets, coffee and snack bars, clothing retailers and other tourism related retailers and services in the main centre of Airlie.
Lagoon gardens and pathways

 

Council is dedicated to ensuring the safety of citizens, with a Lifeguard patrol Monday to Friday 6am - 9pm, and on weekends & public holidays 8am - 9pm. Security personnel then patrol the lagoon and surrounds from 9pm - 6am.

The Lagoon has been winner of Tourism and friendly beach awards and the people of The Whitsundays have taken the Lagoon to their heart as much as our tourists and visitors.
