Nominations are now being called for the Whitsunday Australia Day Awards. The categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year (To be eligible, the person must be 26 years or older on 26 January next, must be Australian Citizen)
  • Young Citizen of the Year (To be eligible, the person must be aged between 16 to 25 years of age on 26 January next, must be Australian Citizen)
  • Older Person of the Year (To be eligible, the person must be 60 years or older on 26 January next, must be Australian Citizen)
  • Senior Sports Award (To be eligible, the person must be 19 years or older on 26 January next, must be Australian Citizen)
  • Junior Sports Award (To be eligible, the person must be not more than 18 years of age on 26 January next, must be Australian Citizen)
  • Sports Administrator Award (To be eligible, the person must be a duly appointed Coach, Official, or Administrator, must be Australian Citizen)
  • Senior Cultural Award (To be eligible, the person must be 19 years or older on 26 January next, must be Australian Citizen)
  • Junior Cultural Award (To be eligible, the person must be no more than 18 years of age on 26 January next, must be Australian Citizen)
  • Community Event of the Year (To be presented to the person or group who has staged the most outstanding community event during the year)
